Peg Cheng

Writer + Intuitive Adviser

EVENTS

HELLO FUTURE SELF

Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Pacific Time

Hosted by the INF Club

General Public: $35/INF Club members: Free

In her book, REBEL MILLIONAIRE, Peg Cheng shares how at age 25, while making less than $19,000 a year, she started saving small bits of money for retirement. 24 years later, she’s well on her way to becoming a millionaire at 65. What caused Peg to start saving and to keep saving? It wasn’t due to having more brains or luck or self-esteem. It was something else entirely: her relationship with her Future Self. In this inspiring workshop, you’ll learn how Peg built financial independence through time travel and how you can too. This workshop will be taught online.

FEAR AND WRITING

Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Pacific Time

2020 Portland Book Festival, hosted by Literary Arts

Telling a writer to write without fear is like telling a human to breathe without oxygen. It’s impossible to do and why would you want to? Fear is a natural part of the creative process. Instead of fighting it, work with it. Through stories, mindfulness, and free-writing, you will discover simple, realistic ways to face your fear, get to know it, and use it to propel your writing, rather than hinder it. With fear on your side, there’s nothing stopping you from being the writer you want to be. This workshop will be taught online via Zoom.

WRITERS WELLNESS RETREAT

a day of mindfulness, movement & expression

Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific Time

Embrace the Moon, 1716 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107

Retreat led by Peg Cheng and Qigong taught by Kim Ivy

Writing can be a lonely and scary art form. Facing the blank page day after day requires courage and tenacity. Still, writers don’t give themselves enough credit for the challenging emotional and intellectual work they do time and time again, and instead, they often criticize themselves for not writing enough or for not writing better.

This is why the Writers Wellness Retreat was created. It’s a day for like-minded writers to come together and reclaim or begin a practice of self-care for greater creativity and productivity. Through meditation, use the power of breath to practice mindfulness. Through guided writing exercises, discover your innermost desires and purpose as a writer. Through qigong, move your body to promote relaxation, intuition, and greater flow of energy. Through sharing stories, gain perspective and enjoy camaraderie with fellow writers.

Experience all of this at Embrace the Moon, a healing and beautiful space. Refreshments, tea, and self-care goody bags will be provided. Lunch is on your own at one of Ballard’s many restaurants or you can bring your lunch.

Curious how the retreat went? Read Jeanie’s recap.

What people are saying…

Lizz Zitron, Professor + Librarian

The Contenders is the middle grade novel you’ve been waiting for: diverse characters who are funny and real. Eunice and her friends and family feel so real–they are flawed, kind, complex, a little mean at times, and just wanting to find their place in the world. Highly recommended for every middle school collection.

Laila Atallah, Career Coach

What I love so much about your writing is how personal it is. It gives me permission to accept and love my own humanity, while also giving really helpful tips and mindset shifts, and next steps too.

Mary Elder, Writer + Screenwriter

I would recommend your Fear & Writing class to writers at any stage of their career who struggle with fear (or synonym: “procrastination”). Everyone–from the aspiring writer who says, “I wish I could start writing” to the established writer who laments, “I’m a published author, why can’t I be more productive?”–everyone can get real value out of your class.
