Tarot Touchstone for August 2021

Tarot touchstone for August 2021 includes 7 of Pentacles, 4 of Cups, Wheel of Fortune, Knight of Pentacles, The Lovers, and 5 of Pentacles

What should we keep in mind this August?

It can be challenging to keep working patiently (Seven of Pentacles) when you know there’s still so much more work to do. How do you keep boredom or even apathy (Four of Cups) from moving in and setting up shop when you’re just so dang tired of the grind?

When you reach this point, it’s time to put down the hoe, lay down the hammer, step away from the laptop, and give yourself a break. This needs to happen not once, not twice, but over and over again. As the wise Nap Ministry says, “The pace of quarantine life was actually healthy. The regular pace of this culture is machine-level.”

We are not machines.

We are humans.

At any time, things can change, sometimes to such a degree that you wonder how you ever thought things were always going to be the same.

Sometimes things change incrementally, like a snail making its way out of a three-foot-high planter box. It takes its time. It’s hard to detect movement when things move that slow. But I generally find that humans have a hard time sensing when a shift is coming (Wheel of Fortune), while animals can sense it in the air and in their bones.

What is the way?

Keep taking slow and steady steps forward (Knight of Pentacles). Rest. Take another step.

Put time into nurturing the partnerships (The Lovers) in your life. This can be at work, at home, at school, anywhere you’re working with someone as a team.

Keep a close eye on your health because there is loss happening all around us (Five of Pentacles) and the pandemic is not over.

You are sacred.

We are sacred.

This is a sacred time.

Treat it as such and remember, it can all change in an instant.

Cards: Seven of Pentacles, Four of Cups, Wheel of Fortune, Knight of Pentacles, The Lovers, Five of Pentacles

Deck: Radiant Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot

Journaling prompt for the month:

  • What I hold sacred… (list as many things/people/animals/flowers/songs/art/etc. that come to mind)

Getting Deep with Naomi Harrington of the That’s Deep Podcast

https://www.pegcheng.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Lets-Get-Deep-Podcast-Graphic.mp4

Some people learn by reading. Others learn by writing. Others learn by doing. And still others learn by speaking.

I learn by all four.

But, what I’ve learned over the years is that the best way for me to learn about myself is to answer questions from someone that I trust and who is also a good listener.

The deeper the question, and the more attentive the listener, the more I can speak freely and truly learn and understand who I am.

I had the pleasure of doing just that when I was interviewed by my dear friend Naomi Harrington, host of the That’s Deep Podcast.

Naomi is an empath, podcaster, and Internationally Board Certified Life Coach and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, so you know she’s fantastic at asking questions and listening deeply.

In our convo, Naomi and I get deep about:

  • Where I grew up in Southern California and how it shaped me
  • My sun, moon, and rising signs and how they show up in my life
  • My Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and why I feel like ENFJ and INFJ
  • How when I became a full-time writer, I was paralyzed and could not write
  • The key thing that helped me get out of the belly of the whale
  • What inspired me to write Rebel Millionaire
  • My Tarot Touchstones and how I create them
  • Stepping into the wild unknown and more!

So, make yourself a nice drink and tune in to my convo with Naomi Harrington. This podcast is also available on Apple.

If our chat resonates with you, I encourage you to check out:

Because of my background and how I grew up as sort of an outsider looking in, I have a lot of different parts to myself. I guess like, I think it’s Walt Whitman that said, “I contain multitudes,” which may sound a little arrogant, but I do feel that way that I have many, many layers that people only see one or two layers and usually it’s the one that they want to see or the one I want to present. — Peg Cheng

Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.) — Walt Whitman, Song of Myself, 51

If you have any questions or comments for me or Naomi after listening to the show, post them below in the comments box and we’d be happy to respond.

What people are saying…

Lizz Zitron, College Professor

The Contenders is the middle grade novel you’ve been waiting for: diverse characters who are funny and real. Eunice and her friends and family feel so real–they are flawed, kind, complex, a little mean at times, and just wanting to find their place in the world. Highly recommended for every middle school collection.

Jas Hothi, Author + Entrepreneur

I’ve done my fair share of personal finance reading and, well, Rebel Millionaire is probably the single best thing I’ve read. Why? So effortlessly simple and effective. As I’m about to turn 31, this is just the nudge I needed to start saving and investing for my future. Thank you, Peg, and Plaid Frog Press!

Laila Atallah, Career Coach

What I love so much about your writing is how personal it is. It gives me permission to accept and love my own humanity, while also giving really helpful tips and mindset shifts, and next steps too.
